Our Story
Built on a Foundation of Genuine Craftsmanship
Cut Above Carpentry & Construction Limited was founded by Mike with one clear ambition: to deliver building and carpentry work across Sussex to a standard that most contractors simply won't match. With years of hands-on experience in both carpentry and construction, Mike set out to create a company where quality was non-negotiable and every client was treated like a priority.
What started as specialist carpentry work quickly grew into a full-service construction company, as satisfied clients returned again and again — this time for extensions, loft conversions, new builds, kitchens, and roofing. Today, Cut Above is trusted by homeowners and developers across West Sussex, East Sussex, and Brighton & Hove to manage projects of every scale.
The company operates under a simple principle: treat every home as you would your own. That means careful workmanship, punctual tradesmen, clear communication, and a finish you'll be proud of for years to come.
Full-Service Construction
Everything Your Home Needs, Under One Roof
One of the key advantages of working with Cut Above is that we are a genuine full-service contractor. Rather than managing a patchwork of different tradesmen yourself, we coordinate every aspect of your project — ensuring quality control, programme management, and seamless communication from start to finish.
Whether you're planning a large rear extension in Worthing, a loft conversion in Brighton, a full house renovation in Horsham, or a bespoke kitchen in Chichester — Cut Above has the skills, the team, and the experience to deliver your project to the highest standard.

Our Standards
What Sets Us Apart
Craftsmanship First
Every project we undertake — from a single fitted wardrobe to a full new-build — is held to the same uncompromising standard. We take pride in the details that others overlook.
Transparent Pricing
We provide detailed, itemised quotes with no hidden costs. You'll always know exactly what you're paying for, and we'll never surprise you mid-project.
Fully Insured & Qualified
Cut Above operates with full public liability and professional indemnity insurance, giving you complete peace of mind from day one through to completion.
Local Sussex Expertise
We're deeply embedded in the Sussex community. We understand local planning requirements, building regulations, and the architectural character of homes across the county.
Single Point of Contact
Mike oversees every project personally. You'll always deal with someone who cares — not an anonymous call centre or a revolving door of subcontractors.
Clean & Respectful on Site
We treat your home with the same respect we'd give our own. Sites are kept tidy, working hours are agreed, and we minimise disruption to your daily life throughout.
